The traditional Medieval Festival of Cassine aims to promote one of the most important and prestigious medieval towns in the Monferrato area. The central event is the re-enactment of the visit by the Duke of Milan, Gian Galeazzo Visconti, to Cassine in 1380.
The old town, characterised by streets that climb towards the highest part, is freed completely from every reference to contemporary life, taking a step back to medieval times, with hundreds of figures dressed as merchants, knights, musicians, dancers, archers, nobles and commoners. Highlights are the market in the square of the medieval village and the battle in the churchyard of the fourteenth-century Church of San Francesco.
