Excellent destination in the nearby Valli di Lanzo. From the summit you can enjoy a magnificent panorama: a 360° view over the entire head of the Val di Viù, from the Croce Rossa to the Punta d’Arnas. In the distance, on sunny days, you can see the Gran Paradiso range and Monte Rosa.
Access: You can reach the city of Lanzo through the state road that runs along the Parco della Mandria, and that starts from Venaria Reale, or the state road that passes by Caselle Torinese. From Lanzo, continue towards the valleys, then follow the signs for Viù/Usseglio. After passing Viù, continue up to the houses of Col San Giovanni, where you can search for parking.
Route: From the houses of Col San Giovanni, near the fountain of the village, you can start climbing westwards through meadows scattered with huts. You cross a beech forest and pass two mountain pastures, following the path marked with stone men, you pass the short wooded belt reaching a wide ridge. Follow the path almost to the summit, bending north only in the last section, on gentle and safe slopes.
At the top there is a very original metallic signal, of "industrial" origin with a little house and summit journal.
