The Bicocca hill is a destination that can be easily reached in summer by car thanks to the road connecting the Val Varaita and the Val Maira. This road is not accessible in winter, and to enjoy the wonderful view of the two valleys and the Pelvo d'Elva it is mandatory to climb the path from one of the most picturesque hamlets of Bellin, Borgata Chiesa, featuring a large number of characteristic structures with an alpine rural architecture and the cemetery, to which some interesting mysteries are related regarding the presence of architectonic elements of dubious origin.
Road access: From Turin’s ring road, near the Orbassano exit, take the expressway to Pinerolo. At Pinerolo, take the state road to Saluzzo, following it to Verzuolo, where you turn right to the Val Varaita. From here, continue towards Sampeyre - Casteldelfino; once you arrive in Casteldelfino, continue going through the town on the ring road until the sign on the left for Bellino. Passing under a water pipe, you enter the Bellino valley and after about four kilometers you arrive at Chiesa. Enter the hamlet and leave your car in the main square where there is a GTA stop.
Route: After leaving the car, continue inside the hamlet and then follow the signs for the Bicocca hill or GTA U22. As soon as you leave the hamlet, you go through some meadows and then enter the larch forest. Here the trail starts climbing to the East, passing first the Cumbal del Cuculet stream and then reaching the Sarsena ridge. The trail continues inside the wood passing through the Grange Sarsena to reach the Bicocca hill after a last stretch. Here you can enjoy a magnificent view of Pelvo d'Elva, Monviso and part of the Alpine range.
