Strada dell’Assietta: easily reached from Usseaux by car or from Sestriere via a dirt road; near the site of the former Assietta signalman’s house.
This is a half-pitched battery that forms part of the Piazza dell’Assietta, armed with four 150 mm cannons, and protected by trenches. Two partially subterranean reserves were located on the sides of the accessory lines, while an underground gunpowder magazine stretches out beneath the square. Outside of the battery, two more 90 mm cannons can be found in pitches on the ground. The artillery sector was situated in several strategic locations in the highlands of Val di Susa.
