Wonderful excursion in Pian dell'Alpe, inside the Orsiera Roccavrè nature park. The hill is famous for many battles, but also as a stop of the Giro d’Italia (Italian Cycle Tour). On the side of the Susa valley, you can admire the imposing Rocciamelone.
Road access: From Turin’s ring road, near the Orbassano exit, take the expressway to Pinerolo. At Pinerolo turn right towards Val Chisone Sestriere, continue until Fenestrelle and, after a few kilometres, turn right towards Usseaux. Continue to climb until you reach the junction, taking a right you get to Balboutet; in the village you can get a good water from a beautiful fountain. Cross the village of Balboutet and continue to climb until the road is clear of snow.
Route: Continue on the road that passes over the village of Balboutet and go on, with a long crossing stretch to the east. Always following the road after a series of hairpin bends, where if there are traces you can cut across, in about an hour and fifteen you get to the charming Piano del'Alpe. The hill is located on the opposite side and, following the track, you cross it. With a last and a bit tiring stretch, you get to the Colle delle Finestre
