Stefano Massini. Lo Zar

In 2000, Vladimir Putin publicly recounted his life: a chilling biography marked by violence, life on the streets and an obsession with the secret services. Stefano Massini takes these statements as his starting point, weaving them together with speeches and historical accounts of his rise to power. The result is a hypnotic, fierce and jarring monologue set against the backdrop of the collapse of the Soviet Union. From the television version to the stage, a work of rare depth.
