An evening and night-time excursion in the Sauze di Cesana area, designed to explore the alpine landscape at night and observe the starry sky, with a particular focus on the relationship between ecosystems, sensory perception and the quality of darkness. During the stops along the way, key topics are explored, such as the impact of light pollution, the fragility of Alpine ecosystems and the fascinating ways in which nocturnal wildlife navigates. The main stop is entirely devoted to observing the sky and identifying the main constellations, enriched by informative insights into the historical relationship between humans, the mountains and the night, all accompanied by a shared hot drink. The return journey, following the same route, offers the chance to compare how the landscape appears before and after your eyes have adjusted to the dark. The route follows an easy-to-walk dirt track for approximately 5 km there and back, with an elevation gain of around 150 m: we recommend walking boots, suitable clothing and a head torch, preferably with a red light.
