SportRoccia returns to Bardonecchia: three days of climbing, outdoor culture and history, in the very places where sport climbing was born. In 1985, at the Parete dei Militi in Valle Stretta, a visionary idea by Emanuele Cassarà and Andrea Mellano gave rise to SportRoccia. It was not just a competition: it was the beginning of a new way of experiencing climbing. Before that, it was about adventure, exploration and a personal challenge against the rock face; then, in 1985, thanks to the dream of two visionaries, climbing entered a new dimension, becoming a contest, a spectacle and a discipline. From that rock face in Valle Stretta, sport climbing was born, destined to reach the Olympic Games less than forty years later.
