Set in the charming and historic surroundings of the Carignano Theatre, one of Torino’s most evocative architectural gems, the traditional festival showcasing Shakespeare’s masterpieces returns. For the 2025/2026 theatre season, audiences will be treated to two of the English playwright’s most brilliant and witty comedies: The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by Marta Cortellazzo Wiel, and As You Like It, directed by Giulia Odetto. Two iconic plays spanning different periods of William Shakespeare’s output, two contrasting yet complementary theatrical worlds: on the one hand, the grotesque and irresistible everyday life of the bourgeois women of Windsor; on the other, the fairy-tale-like, pastoral freedom of the Forest of Arden. Two imaginary settings perfect for reflecting on identity, love and the art of fiction.
