Le macchine di Leonardo da Vinci

01/02/2026 - 07/02/2027

In the historic rooms of Palazzo Barolo, over 50 working models taken from Leonardo's codices reveal to the public the extraordinary modernity of Leonardo da Vinci. The exhibition takes visitors inside the creative workshop of one of history's greatest geniuses.   The machines dedicated to flight, war, civil engineering, hydraulics, mechanics and anatomy reveal a mind that was able to anticipate inventions and technologies that were only realised centuries later. From the aerial screw, the forerunner of the modern helicopter, to the parachute, from the tank to the swing bridge, to the diver with a breathing apparatus.   Made with period materials – wood, cotton, brass, iron and rope – the machines are constructed with rigorous historical accuracy. The technical design, supported by digital calculations, guarantees proportions and mechanisms of absolute precision. Some devices are interactive and can be operated by the public, transforming the visit into a hands-on experience.   Enriched with explanatory panels, video projections and QR codes for further information, the exhibition invites families, students and curious visitors to rediscover the concrete dimension of Leonardo's knowledge.
