The Rima Larch is a splendid and impressive specimen of the species, which, in spite of its age, is intact, healthy and with good bearing. The trunk is straight and develops a regular and balanced canopy which reaches an unusual height of 40 metres. The tree, owned by the Bolongaro family since 1940, has a very old and legendary history. One of these legends assigns it the role of "pivotal plant" at one of the points of the "quadrilateral" around which, according to the habits of the ancient Walser people, the villages developed. In order to date the larch, it should also be noted that it was portrayed, on a large scale, in a print from the end of the 18th century. Like the Macugnaga linden tree, this patriarch too is estimated to be 500 years old.
