The village of Montecastello is dominated, from the top of the hill, by Castello di Montecastello, built in the XIII century on the ruins of fortified structures of ancient origin, completely renovated in the XVIII century with the addition of the chapel of S. Carlo (1739) and of terraces, staircases and wrought iron. Of the fortified structure the planimetric layout and the high tower are still recognisable. The entire complex is protected by two towers, four turrets and a barbican boundary wall.
