In 1923 Andrea Arione opened his pastry shop in Palazzo Cassin. Notable is the large storefront in wood and walnut root that covers the entire corner between Corso Nizza (a shop window and an entrance) and Piazza Galimberti (8 shop windows).
Shop windows and furnishings date back to the 1930s. The elegant interiors, paved in Acceglio marble, are divided between a sales area, with a large counter, and a small room characterized by walls covered with wood panelling painted in green and gold and 4 large mirrors.
Pasticceria Arione is famous for giving birth to Cuneese al Rhum, a crunchy dark chocolate shell that contains a soft filling of custard, cocoa and Rhum. Hemingway, in 1954, stopped here to buy two kilos to give to his wife Mary.
Some scenes from the film "I compagni" by Mario Monicelli, starring Marcello Mastroianni and Annie Girardot, a 1963 feature film nominated for an Oscar for its plot and screenplay, were filmed inside the venue.
