On the way to Lake Monastero, a small body of water in the Lanzo Valleys, there is a fascinating vantage point where the entire surrounding alpine chain can be admired.
Here there is also a very special rock, named Roc del Gal. Rock carvings were made on this boulder, probably in the Iron Age, resembling lunar symbols and coverings with ritual functions.
There is also an old legend in the area about a mythological creature from the Middle Ages that was identified as a hybrid of a cat and a snake, with the power to petrify with its gaze anyone looking at it. Is it perhaps the stone?
Because of the legend, and because of the view, it is certainly worth a visit.
