LA TORTA NOVECENTO DI IVREA

Ivrea is not only a beautiful city close to the hills, surrounded by enchanting lakes and artistic monuments of great historical value, but it is also the place where the famous "Torta 900" was created.

The cake was prepared for the first time in the late nineteenth century by Ottavio Bertinotti, founder of the Balla pastry shop, who, conscious of having created a first-class product, decided to protect his recipe with a patented brand.

It is also said that the confectioner, so jealous of his creation, during the preparation of the cake sent away anyone who tried to steal the ingredients of the recipe.

This secret was also kept by his family who, in 1972, took over the laboratory and the patent.
