There is another legend that features another tower in Vercelli, Torre Tizzoni.
One of the most prominent members of the Tizzoni family in the Middle Ages was Pietro Tizzoni, a young Ghibelline who as a warrior defeated the Guelphs led by the Avogadros in a battle at Trino in March 1329, during which the village not far from Vercelli was occupied and burned.
Pietro Tizzoni also stars in anancient legend: falling in love with Maria Avogadro, he had her locked up in the tower of his mansion; known for her works of charity, she resisted the enticements of the man who offered her wealth in exchange for her favours: this fact contributed to the peace between the two families, and with her faith Maria made Pietro repent of his attitudes.
For this reason the Torre dei Tizzoni is also known as Tower of the Good Daughter.
