Strada dell’Assietta: accessible by car from the Assietta military road up to the fork for the battery; after this, continue by foot.
This construction comprises two connected structures, the western battery and the eastern battery, located at the front-most position and the highest point in the entire Assietta military complex. The access road comes first to a number of logistical buildings, then the entrance to the underground gunpowder magazine, then finally the level of the western battery. This is armed with four 150 mm cannons at the edges of the trenches in which the reserve was located. Two more pitches are found on the sides of the battery: the north deploys 2 90mm cannons, while the south deploys 4 120 mm cannons. A trench with room for rifleman connected this complex with the eastern battery, which was armed with four 150 mm cannons, divided into two areas with trenches and reserves. This powerful artillery deployment aimed at several strategic points in the highlands of Val di Susa and Chisone.
