The Castello (Castle) di Redabue, a few kilometers from Masio, has a long and troubled history. Built at a strategic spot - on a route used for troop movement - it was, for a long time, the arena of the conflicts that characterized the Monferrato wars of succession. In 1403, it was conquered and burned. Rebuilt and restored, its period of stability began only after annexation to the Savoy kingdom. Surrounded by a beautiful park with long boulevards and broad fields, it is used as a spot for receptions, conventions, and weddings. Its small church was designed by Filippo Juvarra. The structure’s interior is enriched by a cylindrical, crenellated tower and by a square tower built next to the structure’s central body. The hanging garden, completely encircling the construction, is an explosion of colors alternating from the blue of climbing wisteria in spring to the intense colors of flowering hedges in the summer.
