The Briona Castle (Castello di Briona) was built around the end of the 15th century by Manfredo I after the siege by Ludovico il Moro. A single structure, the castle has a square layout and a suspended interior courtyard - also square - with its floor at the same level as the first floor and supported by groin arches. On the ground floor, there is a large hall located between the covered courtyard, the chapter house, and the crypt. At one time, the upper courtyard was surrounded by a wooden balcony; today, the eternal section has a single tower that is smaller than it once was. The three interior floors are covered by decorated paneled ceilings.
