LA MOLE ANTONELLIANA, CAUSA DI FORTUNA O SVENTURA?

The Mole Antonelliana, symbol of Torino, is a building located in the historic centre of the city. The name derives from the fact that, in the past, it was the tallest masonry construction in Europe with a height of 167.5 meters, designed by architect Alessandro Antonelli.

A sad legend linked to the university world narrates that students, during their studies, should never climb on the terrace above the Mole, because they would risk not to graduate.

On the other and, the Mole has always brought good luck to the film industry: in fact, the directors who chose it for their films have been very successful. Among many, there is also the masterpiece of Hayao Miyazaki, the splendid "Red pork", where the Mole appears in the closing sequence. Davide Ferrario decided to shoot in the Mole a large part of the film "After midnight". Finally, Michelangelo Antonioni, in the starting titles of the feature film "The friends" showed the broken pinnacle of the beautiful building designed by Antonelli.
